Abstract

1325509 Backrest adjustments DAIMLERBENZ AG 4 Oct 1971 [14 Oct 1970] 46081/71 Heading A4J [Also in Division E2] In a vehicle seat in which the inclination of the backrest is adjustable, the backrest 3 is pivotally supported by a tube 5 on a base plate 4 fixed to the seat frame 1, the backrest being locked in position by the engagement of a toothed segment 9 with a spring biased locking lever 11, the toothed segment being pivoted at 10 to the base plate 4 and connected through a pin and slot connection 8, 7 to a lever 6 connected for rotation with the backrest. As a result of the connection of segment 9 with the lever 6, the segment is displaced through a greater angle than the backrest when the backrest is rotated. The backrest is biased towards an upright position by a spring 13 contained within the tube 5.
