1325415 Photographic developing apparatus H HUSS 28 March 1972 [31 March 1971 (2)] 14524/72 Heading G2A Photographic developing apparatus comprises a developing chamber 4 in a housing 1, the walls and bottom of the chamber 4 being formed by a tank 6 wherein a drum (not shown) for supporting photographic film or paper to be developed is supported for rotation by a shaft 9, and for immersion in liquid in the tank 6; a plurality of reservoirs 5 connectable to the tank 6 via outlet valves 17, a common manifold 20, and an inlet 21; a water jacket 7 in which the tank 6 and reservoirs 5 are immersed; and a temperature control device 10 for keeping the temperature of the water jacket constant. In use, the valve 17 of the first reservoir is opened so that its contents enter the tank 6. The drum is rotated so that photographic material therein is repeatedly dipped into the processing liquid. A discharge valve 24 is then opened and the liquid leaves the tank 6. Inlet valve 22 is then opened, so that jacket water can enter the manifold 20 to rinse the pipe, the tank, the reservoir and to wash the photographic material, if required. Inlet valve 22 is closed and the tank 6 emptied of water. These operations are repeated until the developing process has been completed. A float 14 opens an inlet valve (not shown) when the water level in the jacket falls. A tank partition (36) Figs. 6-8, (not shown) is provided for use with short drums.
