Abstract

1325306 Vehicle bodies; vehicle doors R H DENNIS 22 Oct 1970 [22 Oct 1969] 51822/69 Headings B7B and B7J A motor vehicle has a door at least a part of which moves upwardly, when opening, along a substantially part circular path of the vehicle body having a part circular cross-section. The door may be all in one piece or may include a side upper portion 10a which slides over the roof and a lower hinged or sliding portion 10b which may serve as a step or cill. A door may be arranged at the front of the vehicle and may have an upper portion 9a which is alternatively upwardly slidable or hinged and a lower portion similar to the portion 10b. The driver's seat 4 may slide rearwardly and pivot to allow the driver to enter or leave through the side door. Pods or nacelles 7 arranged on either side of the engine 3 serve as stabilizing fins arid also house luggage. The front wheels are steered by two tillers or columns 11 which are spring loaded to collapse away from the driver in the event of a collision. The body 2 may be a metal or fibre glass monocoque construction.
