Abstract

1324992 Compacting refuse GLOVER WEBB & LIVERSIDGE Ltd 10 Sept 1970 [11 Sept 1969] 44972/69 Headings B8C and B8E Refuse is loaded into a hopper 4 in a housing 2 and is compressed as it is ejected by a screw 12 driven by a motor 14. The refuse is also compressed by a plate 20 hinged at 22 and operated by a ram 24. When doors 26 are opened the plate 20 is raised and the screw rotates. Closing the doors stops the screw and causes the plate 20 to be lowered. Fig. 2, (not shown), illustrates an alternative screw housing which is shut longitudinally. The effective diameter may be altered by distance pieces. The end of the tube is restricted by bars mounted on a pivoted semi-circular flange.
