1324960 Grinding GIBSON BROS (HEBDEN BRIDGE) Ltd 27 April 1972 19730/72 Heading B3D A fixture for mounting on a table 13 of a grinding machine for positioning one or more tool tips 24 to be ground comprises a body 10 having a horizontal or substantially horizontal plane surface 12, a guide member 19 removably secured at or adjacent to one edge of the plane surface and having at least one recess 23 formed therein for positioning the or each tool tip, and clamping means 25 for releasably clamping the or each tool tip in the or each associated recess. The fixture is located on the table 13 by projecting members 14 engaging a channel 16 and is secured by bolts, the table being rotatable about a vertical axis. The guide member 19 is located by pegs 20 and secured by screws 21 to the upper surface 12, and is formed with recesses 23 for receiving the tool bits 24, which may be of tungsten carbide, for grinding by a wheel 18 of the machine. The tool bits are held in the recesses by screw-threaded rods 31 adjustable in the ends of ball-crank levers 26 movable by levers 28 about pivots on base-plates 22 which also have pivots for links 29 connected to the levers 28. When the levers 28 are depressed, the links 29 move over-centre to releasably lock the levers 26 in a clamping position. The guide member 19 may be replaced by others having recesses of different shape (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown).
