Abstract
1324843 Indicating wires D W J WHITE 21 Oct 1970 [22 Oct 1969] 51719/69 Heading G4H A device uniquely identifying a particular wire in a cable, comprises a transmitter which marks each wire with a unique digital signal, and a receiver attached to a probe which identifies the wire. The wires may have clock pulses transmitted along them, appropriate clock pulses in an eight pulse train being marked by a longer pulse to identify the wire by a binary decimal code. Alternatively trains of a hundred pulses are used, one pulse being marked to indicate the wire. Short circuits between the wires may be detected and open circuited wires may also be detected.
