Abstract

1510047 Multiplexing SIEMENS AG 26 Oct 1976 [12 Dec 1975] 44341/76 Heading H4M In a method of monitoring individual sections of transmission links for digital signals each of which is assigned a time channel, an item of additional information is periodically included in the transmitted signal. This additional information includes a component whose information content is set at the beginning of each transmission section in dependence upon the presence of a substitute pulse transmission in one or more time channels, which substitute pulses replace the transmitted signals when the monitored section has been recognized as faulty. This component is analysed at the end of each transmission section in respect of its information content, whereby the receiving end station is able to determine which particular time channels carry the substitute pulses.
