Abstract
1324712 Moulding containers H HAASE 13 July 1970 [12 July 1969 1 Aug 1969 17 Feb 1970] 33932/70 Heading B5A [Also in Division E1] A fuel oil container is produced in two sections which are then joined together, each section comprising an inner wall of synthetic resin surrounded by an outer wall of concrete. In one embodiment, Fig. 6, each section 102, 103 is hemispherical and includes an inner wall 104 of glass fibre reinforced polyester resin with a layer of sand 105, and an outer wall 106 of concrete with steel wire reinforcement 107. The sections are joined at 113 by a layer 114 of synthetic resin associated with a reinforcing layer 116. The inner wall of each section is produced on a male mould in which successive layers of resin alone, resin and glass fibres, and then resin alone are applied; sand is then applied and the thus formed hardened shells are removed and may be placed on a support for the application, by casting, of concrete. Prior to concrete casting, the steel reinforcement is spaced from the shell and from surrounding shuttering. In the embodiment of Fig. 8 a suction duct 206, 207 extends through the outer reinforced concrete wall 202 and connects with the space between the inner and outer walls constituting a vacuum chamber. The other end of the duct connects with apparatus 217 which indicates vacuum leakage. The reinforcing structure for a hemispherical section may be produced on an approximately hemispherical rotatable table 1, Fig. 1, between the top and bottom of which extend releasably attached steel rods 16 over which is spirally wound and welded steel rod 19 while the table is rotated. The rods 16 are received in sleeves 15 and engage below hooks 17 on a ring 3 from which they are released after the welding operation by rotating the ring to disengage the rods and pivoting rod supports 4 inwardly about their lower ends by a cranked handle 10. The structure is then raised from the table.
