1324581 Punching MILLER HOLDING MAATSCHAPPIJ NV and L HONINGS 8 Feb 1972 [8 Feb 1971 (2)] 5837/72 Heading B3W The punching apparatus having a punch support 3 axially slidable in a bore 2 of a housing 1 and a thrust element 12 carrying a punch 6 and axially slidable in the punch support 3, rotation of the element 12 relative to the support 3 and/or the support 3 relative to the housing 1 is prevented by a resiliently biased guide element 19 engaging an axially extending groove 17, 18. The head 6<SP>1</SP> of the punch 6 is provided with two flat surfaces so that it can be non rotatably mounted in a recess of a pin 12<SP>1</SP> which can be locked by a screw 13 in any desired angular position relative to an outer sleeve 12<SP>11</SP>. V-shaped grooves 17, 18 in the outer sleeve 1211 and the punch support 3 are engaged by balls or pins (25) (Fig. 3, not shown) having hemispherical ends which are positioned in bushes (20) locked by nuts 27 in screw threaded engagement with the support 3 and housing 1. The ball or pin (25) is biased into the groove 17, 18 by a spring (24), the force of which is adjustable by a screw (26). The punch support 3 and the element 12 are biased upwardly by springs 5, 11. The punch 6 is slidably in bush parts 7<SP>1</SP>, 711 having interengaging fingers 8, the lower part 7<SP>1</SP> being fast with the punch support 3 and the upper part 711 being movable with the element 12. The lower bush part 7<SP>1</SP> acts as a stripper during the return stroke of the punch 6. The die 29 is held in an aperture 28 in the housing 1 by a screw 31 extending transversely of a slit 20 extending from the aperture 28. The apparatus, which is adapted to be arranged in a crank press, may punch circular or non circular holes in a workpiece which is located against an adjustable stop 35.
