Abstract

1324462 Coating sheet steel COCKERILLOUGREE-PROVIDENCE ET ESPERANCELONGDOZ 17 June 1971 [24 June 1970] 28485/71 Headings C7F and C7U A coating of aluminium is applied on to sheet steel by vacuum deposition, the coating being oxidised in air as the sheet emerges from the coating unit at a temperature between 100‹C. and 250‹C. The coated sheet is then subjected to either the action of hot water above 60‹C., or steam, whereby the Al 2 O 3 coating is transformed into the hydrated oxide. Al 2 O 3 (OH) x . The process may also be applied to steel plate or strip.
