Abstract

1324406 Herbicidal compositions CIBAGEIGY AG 7 July 1970 [8 July 1969] 32848/70 Heading A5E A selective herbicidal composition for the control of grass-type and broad-leaved weeds in maize plantations comprises as the active ingredient at least one s-triazine compound of formula I wherein R 1 is ethyl, n-propyl, isopropyl, sec.- butyl or tert-butyl and R 2 is methyl, ethyl, n-propyl or isopropyl radical, and at least one s-triazine compound of formula II where R 3 is methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, isopropyl, sec-butyl or tert-butyl and R 4 and R 5 may independently be methyl or ethyl or R 4 or R 5 is hydrogen, while the group which is not hydrogen is methyl or ethyl. The ratio of triazine I to triazine II in the composition of the invention is 10:1 to 1:1 and the composition also contains carriers and/or dispersing agents such as kaolin, talculm, ole, loess. chalk, limestone, dolomite, diatomaceous earth, precipitated silicic acid, alkaline earth silicates, sodium and potassium aluminium silicates (feldspar and mica), calcium and magnesium sulphates, magnesium oxide, ground synthetic plastics, fertilisers, ground vegetable products, active charcoal. Anionic and cationic surface active substances may be added to improve the adhesion to plants or ensure better wettability and dispersability. The mixtures are applied in the range 0.5 bgm/ha to 5 hgm/ha, preferably 1 hgm to 4 hgm/ha of total active substance.
