Abstract
1324262 Ion-exchange H ROSHARD 24 April 1970 [25 April 1969] 19740/70 Heading B1J [Also in Division F2] A valve controls the flow of fluids, e.g. through an ion-exchanger to give a different flow resistance in two directions. Thus the flow upwards during regeneration of an ion-exchanger needs to be lower than tthe flow downwards during normal treatment. Four variants of the valve arrangement are described. In Fig. 1 during downward flow the body 11 rests on the cap 9 and flow takes place through the full orifices 20 and 19. When the reverse flow takes place the orifices 19 and 20 are partially closed and flow is through 19 and 22. In Fig. 2 the plate 36 is moved by water pressure from above giving differential flows through orifices 35 and 39. In Fig. 3 the control operates through a ball 59 which has a SG lower than the treatment liquid. Fig. 4 illustrates the use of elastic tongues 78 and 79. (For Figures see next page)
