Abstract
1324188 Variable resistors; capacitors BUNKER RAMO CORP 7 Sept 1970 [5 Sept 1969] 42807/70 Headings HIM and HIS A snap fastened housing 10 contains an impedance e.g. a potentiometer unit, with a worm gear adjustment. A circular lid 13 with an annular projection 24 is pushed into the cylindrical chamber 12 which has an annular groove 23, the cross-sectional radius of curvature of the concave groove R1 being smaller than that of the convex projection R 2 to ensure a tight fit to seal the opening (Fig. 4, not shown). In the embodiment a resilient wiper 15 wipes a resistance element 14 which is attached at its ends to two pins 18,19 (Fig. 1, not shown). The fluid pin 17 contacts a sleeve 48 which engages the wiper. The wiper is formed of resilient sheet metal, bent back on itself to form upper and lower elements 46, 47, the upper element having a U-shaped outer part 51 (Fig. 5, not shown) which engages the resistance element. A manually adjustable worm (39) drives a gear-wheel 40 which has recesses 43 into which fit projections 44 on the wiper.
