Abstract

1324085 Cleaning centrifugal filters HANSJOACHIM TITUS 29 June 1970 [2 July 1969] 31401/70 Heading B1D A centrifugal filter has fitted thereto a vertically reciprocable cake removal and discharge device comprising two tubes 1, 8 connected at an angle to each other, rotation of the tube 8 by means of a fitted ring 17 causing the tube 1 to move towards or away from the drum wall. The tube 1 ends in a rectangular opening whose edges 3, 4 form vertical and horizontal scrapers for cake removal as the drum rotates. Rotation of the ring 17 also causes alignment of spring 16 (see also Fig. 2) with an opening 26a in a lower stop 26 which then allows the lowering of the tube 8 by means of the contact of a piston rod 10 with a pin 19, the rod 10 passing through an opening in the ring 17. The ring is peripherally serrated to co-operate with a tangential rack movable as a piston rod between two end positions, such movement effecting rotation of the ring. Cake discharge is effected by screw worms 5, 11. The discharge pipe 15 may be horizontal and also have a screw. The sequence of movement may be controlled by end switches not shown. In free space 7 the cake is compressed and therefore effectively forms a plug to prevent material falling from tube 8.
