Abstract
1323489 Carrying conductors into casings EMERSON ELECTRIC CO 17 Aug 1971 [23 Oct 1970] 38643/71 Heading H2 [Also in Divisions H3 and H5] Each terminal conductor 19 of a sheathed element is caused to extend angularly relative to the longitudinal axis of the metal sheath 11 by insulating members 25, 26 at the sheath end. The abutting members 25, 26, have openings and complementary grooves so as to provide passages for the sleeved flexible leads, a metal washer 50 forcing the members 25, 26, inwardly of the sheath 11 to bend the conductors 19 angularly and clamp the flared ends of their insulating sleeves 23 against cement 22. The sheath is bent over at 35 to retain the members in position. A ceramic core 10 carrying the resistance wire 14 has openings 12 for the conductors 19 and the contact members 15 electrically connecting them. Centering ceramic bushings 36 fit over the core 10 and have recesses 37 to permit the introduction of granular refractory material 20. A cement layer 21 is provided adjacent each bushing 36.
