Abstract
1323270 Machine for wrapping coins GLORY KOGYO KK 7 June 1972 [18 June 1971] 26516/72 Heading B8C A machine for wrapping successive stacks of coins introduced between wrapping rolls 13 and in which the wrapping material is folded over the ends of the stack, includes a coin guiding device comprising a guide mechanism 11 having a guide member 40 adapted to undergo horizontal and vertical movements and operating to receive and support the stack and to guide the stack between the rolls, positioning means for adjustably determining the elevational position of the guide member and an actuating mechanism for co-ordinately operating the guide mechanism and the positioning means. As shown, coins at the periphery of a turntable 1 are directed along a passage 3 by a conveyer belt 4 and are counted and stacked in a tube 6, which is normally closed by a gate mechanism 7, but which is opened by a cam 9 to allow the stack to drop on to the guide member 40 which lowers the stack to a position between the pair of rolls 13. The rolls are closed on to the stack and a length of wrapping paper 18 is then drawn between the rolls and around the stack to wrap the same. Fold forming hooks 16, 17 are then engaged with the upper and lower margins of the wrapper which is thereby tightly folded over the ends of the stack. The member 40 and the hooks 16, 17 disengage the wrapped stack which drops into a shoot 19. The mechanism 11 comprises a cam 21, Fig. 2, for actuating the guide member 40 and is driven from a cam-shaft 8. The cam 21 is provided with a peripheral cam surface and a side cam surface and is engaged with a pin 22 on a bar 23 which is pivoted at one end to a rotatable shaft 63 and at its other end to a guide bracket 27. A lower bar 24 is also pivotally connected with the shaft 63 and bracket 27, the arrangement being such that rotation of cam 21 causes horizontal and vertical movement of the bracket 27 about the shaft 63. The bracket 27 carries an electromagnet 29, a core 30 of which is connected through a rod 32 to a spring-loaded cam member 34, Fig. 3, a cam edge 36 of which operates on a pivoted lever 37 which supports the guide member 40. The arrangement is such that the guide member 40 can be raised by an appropriate amount in the case where very thin coins are stacked in order to bring the stack centrally of the width of the wrapping paper 18. An actuating lever 46 is engageable with a member 45 fixed to a sleeve 41 for the guide member 40, is pivoted at 47 to the shaft 63, and at lever 48 also pivoted at 47 to the shaft 63, engages an adjustable cam 54 through a roller 49 such that rotation of cam 54 causes pivoting movement of lever 46. In another arrangement, Fig. 4 (not showm), the sleeve 41 is dispensed with. In other arrangements, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), a modified connection between the magnet core 30 and the member 40 is described. In all arrangements, the wrapping operations are controlled by a motor driven cam-shaft 8.
