1322697 Nickel-silver alloys; hot pressed electric contacts TSENTRALNY ORDENA TRUDOVOGO KRASNOGO ZNAMENI NAUCHNOISSLEDOVATELSKY AUTOMOBILNY I AUTOMOTORNY INSTITUT and VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNO ISSLEDOVATELSKY I PROEKTNOTEKHNOLOGICHESKY INSTITUT ELEKTROUGOLNYKH IZDELY 24 Aug 1971 39667/71 Headings C7A and C7D A ceramic alloy composition, for making electric contacts in low-current switches, especially in remote exposer signalling systems, comprises in weight per cent:- 5-30% silver 0À5-50% graphite the balance nickel A powder mixture of silver graphite and nickel is first subjected to cold pressing at 2-3 tonnes/ sq.cm., and then to hot pressing at 5-6 tonnes/ sq.cm., for 10 seconds to 1 minute at a temperature of 400-450‹ C. The resulting compact is used for making contacts with low transitional resistance, high compressive strength and high wear resistance even under emergency short-circuit conditions.
