1322458 Knitting machines E MAYER [trading as MAYER & CIE] 30 Nov 1971 [17 Dec 1970] 55471/71 Heading D1C In a circular knitting machine having, at each knitting system, a pin drum 50 moved step-by-step n steps per rotation where u is the number of rows of pins there is a counting disc also with n steps per rotation and rotatable with the needle cylinder n/a-1 advance cams 57 where a is an integer arranged for switching the drums a steps at a time. As shown each drum 50 has e.g. 32 rows of pins which co-operate with pattern slides and is rotatable in single or double steps. Cams 57 and one pattern cam 58 rotate drums 50 and the counting disc 55 of a counting mechanism by one or two steps as set. At a regulating point 59 a switching device 60 actuated by disc 55 decides if cam 58 and cams 57 are to become effective by means of switching device 60. Regulating point 59 comprises a bolt 61 shifted by a Bowden cable 64 which engages a pawl 76 which holds a guide member 72 against spring 71. On top of member 72 is switching cam body 73 and according to which stop pawl 76 engages the cam body 73 can take up three positions. These are positions one in which it does not effect the switching roller 80, position two in which the narrow part of body 73a is in the path of rollers 80 causing drums 50 to move one step and position three in which body 73 is fully raised and mechanism 54 and drums 50 are moved two steps. In this position, body 78 may also be raised to cause double step movement of drum 50 by cams 57. Roller 80 is fastened on a slider 81 which transmits movement through a percussion lever 82 to a pawl 83 biassed to its normal position by a spring 84. Pawl 83 engages a toothed wheel 85 coaxial with disc 55 having notches 86 and crests 89 for each even and odd numbered pin row respectively and a deep notch 87 at row 1 which forms an indexing position. A sensor 91 co-operates with disc 55 and is carried on a swivel axis 90 which through lever 91 and pin 92 engages lever 93 connected through a further lever to cable 64. A roller 97 on lever 93 engages low links 100 medium links and high links 107 of chain 98. (For Figures see next page)
