Abstract

1321378 Donning and doffing device MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER AG 19 April 1971 [20 April 1970] 9915/71 Heading D1D In a device for automatically doffing full bobbins 9 and donning empty tubes 5 on a ring spinning or ring twisting machine, in which a support rail 10 with gripping elements 12, 13 moves from an idle position to a position where it grips full bobbins 9 and doffs them from their spindles 4 by an upward movement and pivots them about a vertical axis corresponding to each full bobbin and deposits them on a full-bobbin dump, and in which the tubes 5 are transported by the support rail 10 which pivots them towards the machine about a vertical axis corresponding to each tube and donns them onto the spindles 4 by a downward movement, the rail 10 with the doffed bobbins 9 is moved parallel to and away from the machine - each point of the rail 10 moving along a path the projection of which in a horizontal plane is a circular curve the centre of which is a point corresponding to said point on the rail 10, the full bobbins 9 are deposited vertically after the lowering of the rail 10 on a transporting mechanism extending along the machine, the transporting mechanism is set into motion along the machine and the full bobbins 9 are deposited lengthwise in the transporting direction on the transporting mechanism as the rail 10 is lifted, the tubes 5 prearranged along the machine are gripped and the rail 10 together with the tubes 5 is moved further up and then moved parallel towards the machine, each point of the rail 10 pivoting as described above, and after the donning of the tubes 5 is completed the rail 10 is moved back to the idle position. The rail 10 is supported by arms 24 connected to vertical rods 15 that are raised and lowered within guides 16 by cords 21. The arms 24 are pivoted, as required, by a pneumatic piston 26. The gripping elements comprise a pressure hose 13 which, when inflated, cooperates with pins 12 on the rail 10. The transporting mechanism comprises a conveyer belt 33 which is initially driven to the right, as shown in Fig. 1, to cause the bobbins 9 to be deposited in the manner shown in Fig. 4d, and is then reversed in direction to convey them to a further conveyer 33 provided with carrier members 40.
