Abstract

1320893 Spacers for electrical conductors JOHN BARNSLEY & SONS Ltd 23 July 1970 [26 April 1969] 21395/69 Heading H2C A spacer comprises a body 10 of I-shaped cross-section having two rolling elements pivotally attached at their inner ends 15. Each rolling element comprises an outer portion 17 of generally circular cross-section which is tapered in each direction of its centre. It is divided into two equal parts 22 which are pivoted together by means of a lug 20 and pin 21, and one held in the closed position by a loop 27 held in place by a stop 28. Rollers 23 engage the outer raceway formed by the wall of the central part of the bore, and are located by an annular cage comprising two semi-cylindrical portions 24. Two semi-cylindrical rubber elements 25 form the inner raceway which extend beyond the outer portions 17 and have outwardly directed locating flanges which prevent any significant axial movement of the jaws 22 relative to the elements 25. The conductor 8 is held frictionally by elements 25 and may rotate within the rolling element, on the rollers 23. There may be two or more rolling elements attached to a central body, depending on the number of conductors to be spaced. The rollers 25 may be replaced by balls.
