Abstract

1320597 Welding by pressure INSTITUT ELECTROSVARKI IMENI E O PATONA AKADEMII NAUK UKRAINSKOI SSR 28 Oct 1971 50117/71 Heading B3R A resistance seam welder comprises two parallel shafts 2 in a frame 1, each shaft carrying a number of electrode rollers 3 in electric contact with current carrying flexible bus bars 5 located in slots in the shaft and resilient means 10 being carried by each shaft to exert radial biasing forces on each electrode roller. The bus bars 5 are connected to two transformers 6 by movable contacts 16 engaging contact rings 7 and members 12 of conducting material carrying the electrode rollers are clamped to the bus bars which are supported by springs 10 in pockets 9 in the shafts the electrode rollers being movable radially relatively to the shafts 2. Each roller electrode is formed of two half rings and the upper shaft 2 is carried in a support 13 secured to a drive means 15. In operation workpieces are passed between the electrodes which are urged together by drive 15 to provide a plurality of parallel seam welds.
