Abstract

1320356 Welding by fusion NII PO ZAVARYAVANE 29 Oct 1970 [19 Feb 1970] 51559/70 Heading B3R A device for feeding electrode wire 3 in welding apparatus comprises opposed grooved rollers 5 having grooves of hyperboloidal section the rollers being driven by a motor 1 in planetary manner about the wire 3 which they engage under adjustable pressure, with the roller axes at an angle to the wire feed direction and the rollers free to rotate about their own axis. The rollers 5 are mounted on piston members 7 which are radially adjustable by means of a conical member 4 threaded on the motor shaft 2 so that the device can accommodate wires of different diameters and the contact pressure of the rollers on the wire 3 may be adjusted. In a second embodiment radial adjustment of the rollers is controlled by a scroll plate (Figs. 4-7, not shown).
