Abstract

1320138 Imidazole and triazole derivatives AGFA-GEVAERT 28 Sept 1970 [29 Oct 1969] 53025/69 Heading C2C [Also in Division G2] 2 - (4 - Pyridyl) - naphth - [1,2] - imidazole is prepared by heating 1,2-diaminonaphthalene and isonicotinic acid in polyphosphoric acid. 1,2 - Bis - [5 - (γ - sulphopropylthio) - 1H - 1,2,4- triazole-3-yl]-ethane is prepared by adding propanesultone to a solution of 1,2-bis-(5-mercapto- 1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)ethane and sodium methylate in methanol and refluxing. 1,2-Bis - [5- (1,3,3 - trimethyl - γ - sulphopropylthio) - 1H- 1,2,4 - triazol - 3 - yl]ethane disodium salt is prepared similarly to the last-mentioned compound. 1,2 - Bis - [benzimidazol - 2 - ylthio]- ethane is prepared by adding 1,2-dibromoethane and methanol containing sodium methylate to 2-mercapto-benzimidazole and refluxing. 2-(2- Pyridyl)-benzimidazole is prepared by heating α-picolinic acid and o-phenylenediamine to 250‹ C. 2,6 - Di - (benzimidazol - 2 - yl)pyridine is prepared by heating o-phenylenediamine and 2,6-pyridine-dicarboxylic acid in polyphosphoric acid. Bis - [5 - sulpho - benzimidazol - 2 - ylthio]- methane disodium salt is prepared by adding dropwise dibromomethane to a solution of the disodium salt of 2-mercapto-5-sulphobenzimidazole in dimethylformamide. 2-[5-Sulpho-benzimidazol-2-ylthio-methyl]pyridine is prepared by adding dropwise 2-chloromethylpyridine to a solution of the disodium salt of 2-mercapto-5- sulphobenzimidazole in dimethyl-formamide. 1,4 - Bis - [sulpho - benzimidazol - 2 - yl] - butane is prepared by adding dropwise fuming sulphuric acid to a solution of 1,4-bis-[benzimidazol- 2-yl]butane in sulphuric acid.
