Abstract
1320125 Valves; pipe joints LADISH CO 17 April 1971 9753/71 Heading F2G and F2V A butterfly valve is held between the tapered end flanges 12, 13 of two coaxial pipes 10, 11 by semicircular clamping segments 30, 31. A valve disc has stems 45, 47 which are received in opposed holes in a rubber or plastics seal 20 between the flanges. The clamping segments each have a groove with inclined sides which co-operate with the end flanges to compress the seal radially and axially. The seal is formed with opposed beads 23 which co-operate with grooves 17, 19 in the end flanges and has an enlarged diameter bore formed by circular quadrants each having a centre offset with regard to the axis so that when the segments are pulled together by bolts due to the uneven compression of the seal the bore becomes circular and corresponds to that of the pipes. The stem receiving holes in the seal have an enlarged diameter at their outer ends into which overlong extensions of stem bearings 40, 43 in the clamping segments are forced when the segments are pulled together. The inner bore of the seal has an inwardly projecting annular rib (26).
