Abstract

1319984 Drilling machines DBM INDUSTRIES Ltd 6 Oct 1970 [10 Oct 1969] 47419/70 Headings B3B and B3C In a drilling machine a non-circular quill 50 is accurately guided in a similar shaped aperture 44 in a head 10, and the drilling spindle 22 is rotatably mounted in the quill. Head 10 is movable on a column 3 by a rack and pinion drive 5, and is lockable thereon by a clamp 6. Quill 50 is located in aperture 44 by needle rollers 55, and is moved axially through the aperture by a rack and pinion drive 100, 102, and drill spindle 22 is driven by a motor 7 through a variable speed expanding pulley drive 8. A drill guide bushing arrangement 92, 94, is carried by legs 82 which are connected to spring- urged rods 62, supported for axial movement in apertures 54 by needle bearings 64.
