Abstract
1319385 Collapsible buildings PERET 19 April 1971 [8 March 1970] 22031/71 Headings E1A and E2B A reticular, three-dimensional, jointed building structure is constituted by a plurality of joints 2B, 2C and a plurality of rigid bars 1A articulated to-gether whereby the structure may be folded into a compact array of parts of a length equal to that of one of the bars, see Fig. 8 (not shown). The structure may be provided with fixed or removable outer and/or inner skins of pliable, rigid or semi-rigid material for details of which to-gether with mode of attachment and overall shape of the building structure the Specification should be referred to. To facilitate collapse and erection two types of points are employed in joints of the lug-and-fork type and joints of ball- and-socket type. The ball and socket type joint may consist of two body parts 7, 8, Fig. 4, and a locking disc 9 secured thereto by a T- shaped nut 10 and a bolt 11 having a hooked head 12. U-shaped indents each having a stop surface 13 and guide surfaces 13a are provided in the body parts to receive bar-like elements 14. In a modification of the above, see Fig. 5 (not shown), the locking device consists of a rotatable cup (15) having gripping tabs 17 and defining with the body portion of the joint bayonet-type slots to which access may be blanked off or allowed. The lug-and-fork type joint, Fig. 6, allows movement of the lug member 23 in one plane only to which end it is provided with a pivot pin 24 rotatably seated in one of the joint halves; the halves 18, 19 being interconnected as shown.
