Abstract

1319246 Complexes of benzotriazoles BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [28 April 1970] 20319/70 Heading C2C [Also in Division C5] The invention comprises complexes formed by the reaction of (1) benzotriazole or a substituted benzotriazole with (2) a basic nitrogen compound or a substituted ammonium hydroxide. Specified nitrogen compounds are 2- ethylhexylamine, di-(2-ethylhexyl)-amine, diisopentylamine and a mixture of tertiary alkyl primary aliphatic amines. Specified substituted ammonium hydroxide compounds are didodecyldimethyl-, di-isooctyldibutyl-, and tri-isooctylmethyl-ammonium hydroxide. The complexes are useful in lubricating compositions.
