1319164 Valves BEHR-THOMSON DEHN STOFFREGLER GmbH 16 April 1971 9702/71 Heading F2V A valve for controlling the flow in central heating installations has a temperature-responsive element 9 mounted between orthogonally disposed fixed and movable bows 6, 7 and surrounded by a heating element 16 which is held on the casing of the element 9 by an intermediate corrugated copper plate 51. The piston 10 of the element 9 abuts a bridge 11 on the fixed bow while the casing 9<SP>1</SP> is mounted by an insulator in a holding plate 8 fixed to the movable bow which carries a valve member tappet 13. The material within the element 9 is held near melting-point by a preheater 52 about the casing 91. The plate 51 may be adhesively secured to the casing 9<SP>1</SP> and/or the heating element. The adjustable stroke of the movable bow is limited by a switch 21 or 28 which interrupts the circuit to the heating element 16. A further switch (22) operated by the movable bow for controlling other appliances, e.g. a valve operating indicator is provided. A thermal switch 30 operating to interrupt the circuit to the heating element is also provided and responds to excess temperature. Manual operation of the valve is by rotation of an eccentric pin 37 which engages in a slot 41 of the movable bow. A thermocouple 57 between the heating element and casing 9<SP>1</SP> or capacitive, inductive or resistive position detector 58 about the valve tappet 13 may be used to provide a feedback to the heating element. Resistors adjustable and/or temperature dependent may be provided in the circuit of the heating element. In a modification the casing 9<SP>1</SP> of the temperature-responsive element 9 is disposed between the fixed and movable bows while the piston 10 carries the valve tappet.
