Abstract

1319041 3 - Hydroxymethyl - chromones WARNER-LAMBERT CO 14 Jan 1972 [4 Feb 1971] 1857/72 Heading C2C Novel compounds of the Formula (I) wherein R 1 and R 2 which may be the same or different, are hydrogen or halogen atoms, hydroxy groups, or alkyl, aralkyl, aryl, alkoxy or acylamino radicals or wherein R 1 and R 2 together represent a fused aromatic ring, may be obtained by reacting a compound of Formula (III) with formaldehyde to give a compound of Formula (II) which is then heated to yield (I). Pharmaceutical compositions, useful in providing symptomatic relief of allergic conditions such as asthma or hay fever, comprise compounds of Formula (I) in admixture with a solid or liquid pharmaceutical carrier or diluent in forms suitable for administration orally, by injection or by aerosol spray.
