Abstract

1319028 Mixing liquids in proportions TECHNICON INSTRUMENTS CORP 26 Aug 1971 [14 Sept 1970] 40180/71 Heading B1C [Also in Division Fl] An apparatus for analysing liquid samples in which the samples are first mixed with a liquid reagent, comprises a peristaltic pump (see Division Fl) for pumping the samples to a mixer 134 to which reagent from a bottle 114 is supplied via a flow control 130. The platen 28 of the peristaltic pump is movable into its operative position by pneumatic pressure derived from a source 108 via relief valve 110 and electromagnetically controlled vent valve 118, the pressure source also being used to pressurise the reagent bottle 114. The pump may incorporate means for segmenting indivividual samples using a separating fluid, e.g. a gas.
