Abstract

131,900. Akt.-Ges. vorm. Seidel & Naumann. April 28, 1917, [Convention date] . Plasten-shift mechanism.-In machines in which a vertically-movable shift frame 2 is mounted on the carriage 1, the shift frame is prevented from shattering by means of a catch device which is mounted on the shift frame and normally engages a stop on the carriage. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the roller 8 in connexion with the shift key engages a rod 7 secured to arms 6 which can rock on a cross rod 5 of the shift frame, one or both of the arms being provided with a finger 9 which normally engages a stop 11 on the carriage. The stop consists of a grooved pin projecting through a slot 17 in the shift frame. A spring 10 or gravity holds the finger in contact with the stop. On operating the shift key, the finger 9 is swung into the released position, the movement being limited by the engagement of the arm 6 with an adjustable stop 12 on the shift frame; further movement of the shift key then causes the shift frame to be elevated. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 5, the roller 8 first lifts a bar 14 to release the finger 15 from the stop 11 and then engages a rigid bar 13 to elevate the shift frame. The finger is provided with an adjustable screw 16 for engaging the stop 11.
