Abstract
1318915 Proteinaceous food component LICENCIA TALALMANYOKAT ERTEKESITO VALLALAT 28 July 1970 [1 Aug 1969] 36455/70 Heading A2B A substantially fibreless green plant extract is prepared by comminuting green plant material which has not reached the generative state, pressing to force a liquid therefrom, which is separated, preferably adding water to the pressed cake and again pressing to separate further liquid, adding an antioxidant to the liquid and coagulating the live protein content thereof, for example by heating, which is separated, washing the coagulum with water and dilute acid and combining the washing with the mother liquor, inoculating the mother liquor with a micro-organism, preferably a yeast, capable of using nitrate and ammonia nitrogen sources, subjecting the inoculate to aerobic fumentation with aeration until the nitrogen sources are substantially exhausted, if desired adding further nitrogen sources to the broth until the energy sources therein are exhausted, concentrating the nitrogen contain ing matter in the liquid phase, recombining the concentrate with the coagulated true protein, and drying, whereby a diloxicated fibreless extract of high nutritional value is obtained. The press cake may be used as a low grade ruminant feed, preferably supplemented with urea.
