Abstract

1318448 Water-soluble reactive monoazo dyes FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 28 Aug 1970 [29 Aug 1969] 41515/70 Heading C4P The invention comprises reactive watersoluble monoazo dyes of formula wherein A is the residue of a coupling component of the benzene, naphthalene, acetoacetarylamide, pyrazolone or quinoline series, X is a -CH=CH 2 or -CH 2 -CH 2 -Z group wherein Z is -OH or an inorganic or organic radical capable of being split off by an alkali and m and n are 1 or 2. The dyes are prepared by azo coupling or by various additional reactions to form the group Z. For example, dyes wherein Z = OH may be reacted with H 2 SO 4 to give Z = O.SO 3 H, this product may be treated with alkali to give the vinylsulphone group or reacted with diethylamine to yield a dye wherein Z = N(C 2 H 5 ) 2 , or the vinylsulphone group may be reacted with Na 2 S 2 O 3 to give Z = S.SO 3 H. The dyes are used to colour cellulose fibres by the usual reactive dyeing processes in yellow and red shades.
