1317961 Pneumatic striking device DIOSGYORI GEPGYAR 29 May 1970 25908/70 Heading B4C A pneumatic striking device, e.g., for driving a first element 30 into a second element 12, comprises a striker piston and cylinder assembly 1 and a yoke 2 for suspending the device and means 10 for connecting the device to the element 12 or the member being struck, the connecting means being angularly adjustable relative to the yoke 2 about an axis X along which the device acts. The yoke 2 may be suspended by rings 3, 4, and supports a compressed air cylinder 5 having a piston 9 and rod 11 for connection through a chain 10 and hook 13 to the element 12. The piston 9 is operable by means of a valve 17 controlling compressed air supply from a main 23 through conduits 21, 18, 14, to draw the suspended device towards the element 12 so that a hammer 29 engages the elements 30. For driving the element 30 a rotary valve 24 is actuated to deliver compressed air alternately into a first cylinder chamber 25 and, through a duct 26, to a counter chamber 27, thus reciprocating a striker piston 28 to deliver blows to the hammer 29 and thus cyclically to element 30. For angular adjustment, the cylinder 5 is attached to a disc 32a in rotatable co-operation through up to 350 degrees with a further disc 32 fixed to the assembly 1, a spring- loaded locking pin 33 allowing angular setting. Also, a lug 7 enables the cylinder 5 to be fixed to the yoke 2. For vertical operation, the device may be suspended through alternative rings 34, 35, e.g., for deslagging furnace bottoms. The device is mentioned also as useful for forcing bushes in or out.
