Abstract

131,766. Muir, A. E. Sept. 20, 1918. Scaffolding and staging.- Scaffolding for ship building &c. comprises a series of single uprights composed of angleirons a and braces b, each upright having two vertical channel ways formed by angleirons c and a #-iron d and two brackets e sliding independently in said channels with guides f engaging the bracket flanges. Staging planks are bolted before elevating to plates p riveted to angle-irons m which are secured to the brackets by bolts n in the brackets passing through slots o in the angle-irons. The brackets are then hoisted by ropes or tackle and secured by a chain j and cleat or hook k, the tackle being then removed. The angle-irons m and plates p may be made to slide outwards to give greater outreach of staging and additional bolts may be used to secure the angle-iron to the bracket.
