Abstract

1317348 Venturi scrubbers for gases CHARBONNAGES DE FRANCE 19 April 1971 [8 April 1970] 26181/71 Heading B1R Gas to be dedusted flowing in direction F passes to and through venturi section 4 of a gas scrubber, water being sprayed into the stream through spray 15 located in the neck of the venturi. The wet gas stream leaving the venturi passes over conical deflector 6 which is provided with means which impart a rotational component to the gas flow. Liquid outlet 22 in gas-liquid separation section 8 is tangentially located, but in the opposite sense to the direction of rotation of the gas stream (see Fig. 2, not shown). The interior of separation section 8 may be rough, e.g. by providing an inner lining of expanded metal. The apex angles of sections 3 and 5 of the unit are both suitably 90‹ and the cross-sectional area of flow at the base of conical deflector 6 is preferably at least that at the apex.
