Abstract
1317238 Measuring engine speed, acceleration electrically TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Inc 17 Nov 1971 [5 Dec 1970] 53392/71 Heading G1N An electrical circuit arrangement for controlling an exhaust gas decontaminator for an internal combustion engine comprises a voltage generator circuit 2-4 including a voltage limiting means 4 responsive to the recurrence frequency of the engine ignition pulses to produce a voltage indicative of engine rotary speed up to a selected limit an acceleration measuring circuit 5 responsive to the voltage output from the generator circuit to produce a voltage indicative of the acceleration of the engine up to the speed limit and a voltage controlled switching arrangement 6, 7, 8 responsive to the output of the acceleration measuring circuit to produce switching signals whereby an ON signal is provided for the exhaust gas decontaminator beneath a predetermined engine speed when a predetermined acceleration is exceeded. The generator circuit produces pulses of constant width and amplitude and of recurrence frequency equal to that of the ignition pulses and a discriminator 3 produces a corresponding mean D. C. valve. The limiting means is a Zener diode whilst the acceleration measuring circuit includes an RC differentiating circuit.
