Abstract

Ships, protecting.-A protection or armour for the decks of ships, the protection of the roofs and inclined surfaces of armoured gun houses, conning-towers and other structures, comprises a cellular structure of mild steel in the form of layers of tubes 1, Fig. 3, arranged either parallel or with alternate layers crossed, or of one or more layers, of multi-cellular sections 6, Fig. 6; these cellular arrangements are mounted between an outer plate 2 exposed to action, and an inner plate 3, or the structure itself.
