Abstract
1316252 Opening bottles; reciprocating conveyers ALLIED BREWERIES (UK) Ltd 7 Jan 1971 [7 Oct 1969] 49290/69 Headings B8A and B8T Apparatus for de-capping and emptying filled bottles sealed with crown caps comprises a de-capping station 3 fed with bottles by an arm 6 fitted with a platform 8. A bottle is pushed through a flap 13 and the cap 18 is forced between plate members 16, 21, whereupon the arm 6 returns for another bottle and the flap 13 closes. A jack 23 is then activated to force a piston-rod 24 on to the cap 18, which removes the cap from the bottle and ejects the bottle rearwardly until it engages the closed flap 13. The bottle then tilts forwardly and slides down a guide track 14 into one of a series of bottle supporting tubes 27. These tubes rotate in a step-wise manner, and in doing so the contents of the bottles held therein fall into a trough 31. The empty bottle, prevented from falling out by a plate 29, is then deposited on a conveyer 5. An electric motor 32 furnishes the drive to the various parts of the apparatus. The arm 6 is pivoted at 7 and reciprocates back and forth by means of a cam 53 driven by chain 49, and bottles are fed on to a platform 2 on the arm 6 by a hook 9 operated by cam 55, also driven by chain 49, and a rod 67.
