Abstract

1316184 Gas turbine plant NETHERLANDS APPLIED SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH FOR INDUSTRY TRADE & COMMERCE 19 April 1971 [7 April 1970] 26461/71 Headings F1C F1G and F1T The invention relates to a turbine intallation comprising a gas turbine plant which utilizes a centrifugal fluid vane type compressor, the gas turbine driving a fluid pump which supplies fluid to drive a fluid turbine which supplies useful power, the fluid discharging from the turbine passing to the centrifugal fluid vane type compressor to drive it and to constitute the fluid for the fluid vanes. In Fig.2 air is compressed in compressor 27 then further compressed in the centrifugal fluid vane type compressor 31. The air is then pre-heated in air pre-heater 36 before passing to combustion chamber 37 where fuel is burned in it, the resulting combustion gases passing to the turbine 26 and finally passing to exhaust through the air pre-heater 36. The turbine 26 drives the first compressor 27 through shaft 25, also a fluid pump 28. Fluid supplied by the pump 28 passes through line 32 to drive a fluid turbine 33 which supplies useful power at shaft 45. Fluid discharging from the turbine 33 passes through line 34 to the centrifugal fluid vane type compressor acting to drive the compressor also constituting the fluid for the fluid vanes. The fluid and air are separated in the separator 42, the air passing through line 35 to the pre-heater 36 and the fluid returning through cooler 44 to the pump 28. The assembly shown in Fig. 3 comprises an air compressor 49 shown as a centrifugal type compressor, a centrifugal fluid vane type compressor comprising a rotor 53 and an annular space 64 in which the fluid vanes are formed, the air compressed therein passing to an air pre-heater and combustion chamber not shown, the combustion gases acting to drive the turbine 48. The turbine 48 drives the compressor 49 also a fluid pump 50, the fluid delivered by the pump passing to the fluid turbine 57 which supplies useful power, the fluid discharged from the turbine 57 passing to the centrifugal fluid vane type compressor 53 to drive this , the fluid then passing through passage 63 in the rotor to constitute the fluid vanes in the annular space 64. A control sleeve 65 is provided to regulate the quantity of fluid passing into the fluid vane type compressor.
