Abstract
1353400 Gas turbine plant GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE STERKRADE A G 1 July 1971 [3 July 1970] 30802/71 Heading F1G A gas turbine engine comprises a series of contrarotating rotor discs 1 each of which comprises an inner series of compressor blades 3 and an outer series of turbine blades 4 separated by partitions 5; the rotors 1 are rotatably mounted on a fixed shaft 2. The engine comprises also a series of rotor discs 6 which are secured to a rotatable power output shaft 7, series of turbine blades 8 being mounted on the discs 6 by means of rods 9 which are disposed in the air passage leading from the compressor 3 to the combustion chamber 10 but exert no influence on the air flow. Gases pass from the combustion chamber to the H. P. turbine 8 thus driving the output shaft 7, then to the L. P. turbine 4 thus driving the compressor 3. The air inlet is shown at 11 and the exhaust gas outlet at 12. Opening (13) are formed in the partitions 5 whereby air may pass from the pressure side of the compressor blades 3 into the hollow turbine blades 4 for cooling thereof. The rods 9 are hollow.
