Abstract

1315982 Aerials NIPPONDENSO KK 7 Dec 1970 [13 Jan 1970] 57945/70 Heading H4A An extensible road vehicle aerial comprises an electric motor 2 which has a driving shaft 3, and which is mounted within a cylindrical portion la of a support member 1. A cylindrical member 11 is rotatably mounted on the portion la and is provided with gear teeth around its periphery at one end, and carries a drum 13 at its other end. A first spur gear 4 is mounted at the end of the motor shaft 3 and is connected to the gear-wheel at the end of the member 11 by a train of spur gears (Fig. 3, not shown). A flexible wire 15 is connected at one end to an aerial element (14), Fig. 1 (not shown), and at the other end to the drum 13, upon which it is wound, or from which it is unwound, as the aerial element is lowered or raised. A cover 17 is fixed upon the support member 1, and encloses the motor and the drum. A shock-absorbing clutch mechanism may be interposed between the cylindrical member 11 and the drum 13.
