Abstract

1315571 Shooting games; projecting targets OLIN CORP 28 June 1971 [17 July 1970] 30257/70 Headings A6D and A6H [Also in Division H1] In a shooting game in which participants shoot at targets launched into the air, scoring means are actuated when a target is launched and disabled when a shot is fired. The scoring means is a sequential generator timing device (422, Fig. 18, not shown) with visible read out which device counts down from ten to zero and is disabled when a shot detected by a microphone is fired. The timer count is added to the score if the target is hit. The game is played by two teams who take it in turns to operate consoles to select the velocity, delay and launcher tube for the targets. The targets comprise spherical balls of glass, ice or other frangible material and are fired towards the shooter from tubes (20) by blasts of air. Any one of five tubes (20) may be selected together with any one of three velocities determined by different diameter openings (88, 89, 87) for the air jet and any one of three time delays. Selections must be made within a limited period otherwise a standard set of conditions is automatically selected. The launching mechanism (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown) includes pressure operated switches (76, 84) to check for underweight targets and cause rejection of the same. The selection buttons have a locking mechanism associated therewith (Figs. 7-11, not shown, and Group H1 Abridgment) to ensure that only one switch for each factor (velocity, delay and launcher tube) is selected at a time and that different launcher tubes are used in each set of 3 shots. Electric logic circuitry for controlling the automatic functioning. of the game is disclosed with reference to Figs. 12-21 (not shown).
