1315466 Bath &c plugs and strainers &c N S HIGHFIELD 21 May 1971 [25 Feb 1970 21 April 1970] 8960/70 18925/70 Heading A4N [Also in Divisions E2 and H1] A plug for a vessel outlet e.g. a bath, basin or sink comprises a recessed body 2 with in the recess, a disc 6 of permanently magnetic material bored centrally to receive a ringed pin 5 bent over for chain attachment. A ferro-magnetic disc 8 on a base 9 is adhesively or screwedly fixed to a surface 10 of the vessel for magnetic retention of the plug when not in use (Fig. 1) In a modification (Fig. 2) the plug comprises a flat body overlying the drain hole with a central dependent boss 13 carrying a magnetised disc 6 engagable with a magnetic member 8 for retention. In a modification Fig. 3, (not shown) the plug has a projection engaging the chain ring and an underlying recess filled with plastic e. g. epoxy resin in which a magnetised disc is embedded to engage an adhesively retaining magnetic disc. In a modification (Fig. 4) the plug is magnetically retained in a drain hole 15 fitted with a metal spider Fig. 5, (not shown) and a ferromagnetic disc 21 on a bulbous resilient e. g. rubber base 22 force fitted in the central aperture of the spider, retentively co-operating with the permanent magnet member of the foregoing plugs. The disc 21 may be spring clip or directly secured to the spider, while the magnetised and magnetic members may be interchanged and the retention fitting for the disengaged plug made integral with a stainless steel or enamelled iron vessel. The members may be respectively magnetised in opposed senses.
