Abstract

1314788 Garment rails F P BRENNAN 18 Oct 1971 48396/71 Heading A4U [Also in Division B8] A hanger bar 10, mountable on side walls of a carton for transport of garments, comprises a carrier member 11 of inverted U-section and a W-section locking member 15 which overlies and engages at support positions on the member 15 the suspension hooks of garment hangers supported on the bar, the locking member being releasably secured to the member 11 by tongues T1, T2 bent over to engage behind the edges of apertures 01, 02 and being used in reversed positions with suspension hooks of rounded shape and of angular shape, respectively. The locking member 15 consists of a central part 15a, which is of less width than the web 11a of the carrier member, and channelled side parts with bases 15b and peripheral walls 15c. As shown in Fig. 3, rounded hooks H1 are engaged by the bases 15b at spaced support positions S1, S2. Angular-shaped hooks are engaged by the free edges of the walls 15c at positions lying outwardly of the side walls of the carrier member and by the central part 15a of the reversed locking member. In modifications, the apertures provided in either the carrier member or the locking member are circular or of other geometrical shape and may be selfcentring in co-operation with the tongues.
