Abstract

1314420 Gripper Axminster looms; stop motions BRITISH CARPETS Ltd 1 Sept 1971 [3 Oct 1970] 47116/70 Heading D1E A gripper Axminster loom has a photoelectric device which traverses with the tuft cutting knife to stop the loom in the absence of a tuft. Only part of the photo-electric device may traverse with the knife, the device may operate in conjunction with a logic circuit arranged to stop the loom when any predetermined number of tufts are missing in any warpwise row or to count the number of missing tufts to access the quality of the carpet. To provide a stronger signal two photo-electric devices may operate in series.
