Abstract

1313732 Printing apparatus POLYTYPE AG 27 April 1970 [8 May 1969] 20148/70 Heading B6C Beakers 17 of round section and cylindrical or conical outline are fed to mandrels 5, on which they rotate as they are printed on by rolling contact by an adjustable printing unit B, then they are varnished by an adjustable varnishing unit and removed to a delivery belt 35 by a reciprocating gripper head 28. There are at least eight mandrels 5, the printing unit B prints in at least six colours, e.g. by offset, and the gripper head 28 carries not less than four grippers 29 and rotates each time one of the grippers 29 removes a beaker from a mandrel 5. The gripper 29 may operate by suction, and release the beakers 17 when the gripper head 28 is moving at the same speed as the conveyer 35. When beakers of a different outline are to be printed on the printing unit B and varnishing unit are moved relative to the mandrels 5 to accommodate the new shape.
