1313687 Flexible sheet-metal conveyer belts O D EASLEY JNR 8 June 1970 [10 July 1969] 27650/70 Heading B8A A conveyer belt comprises an elongated strip 12 preformed into a trough-like shape, there being at least two sections 12a, 12c curved in opposite directions for engagement by guiding and supporting means 23, 24, 29, the material of the tape having sufficient resiliency to flatten as required during changes of direction around end rollers, without exceeding the elastic limit of the material. As shown in Figs, 1 and 2, a system of guiding and supporting rollers 23, 24, 28, 29, is suspended from a member 32. An endless strip (35), (Figs. 4, 5, not shown) similar to the conveying strip 12, may be used to cover over the material being transported. The oppositely-curved section 12c may be of increased thickness so as to provide more drive horsepower (Fig. 9, not shown). There may be two pairs of oppositely-curved sections (Fig. 7, not shown). The outer edge of the belt may carry a seal (53) (Fig. 8, not shown), adapted to engage the section 12c of the belt, and so result in a sealed tubular material-carrying section on each side of the belt. The edge of the belt may be formed with flights (64) (Figs. 10, 11, and 12, not shown). An endless member 73 (Fig. 14), carrying flights 75, may move in unison with the main belt 70, and may be used for accelerating material on to the belt. Flights 83 may be formed from tongues (82) (Fig. 15, not shown), formed by making V-shaped slits in a covering belt (81). A belt 91 (Fig. 16A and 17) of preformed circular form may be disposed within each curved section of a belt 90. The belt 91 may have flights 93 formed as shown in Fig. 16A. The belt 91 may be in a position rotated 180 degrees with respect to that shown in Fig. 17 (Fig. 18, not shown).
