Abstract

1313201 Ski bindings H MARKER 16 June 1970 [4 July 1969] 29159/70 Heading A6D A heel- or toe-piece for safety ski bindings comprises a soleholding member which is movable, when mounted on the ski, against a resisting force from a locked position to a release position, and an inertia mass mounted for swinging movement transverse to the longitudinal axis of the ski and spring biassed into a central rest position, the inertia mass influencing the resistance counteracting the movement of the soleholding member from the locked position to the release position. In the figures, soleholding member 12 is connected to levers 10, 11 at pivots 13, 14 forming a four-link mechanism with the levers which are connected to carrier 5 at pivots 8, 9. A helical spring 26 held within spring cage 25 by pin 27 and bob 28 provides the resisting force, the cage, pin and bob together forming the inertia mass. Shocks applied to the ski boot result in release as shown in Fig. 6, while shocks applied to the ski are, in general, absorbed by the device.
