Abstract
1312665 Surface modified oxides CABOT CORP 11 June 1970 [13 June 1969] 28316/70 Headings C1A and C1N A surface-modified metal or metalloid oxide is produced by a continuous process in which an atomized organosilicon compound is fed at 0-450‹ C. into a reaction zone, the oxide is blown into the zone through a passage having a constricted portion, and the product is recovered downstream. The organosilicon compound may be an organosilazane, organohalosilane, cyclotrisiloxane, aryloxy and alkoxysilanes etc.; exhaustive lists are given. The oxide may be of Si, Al, Ti, Zr, V, Cr, Fe, or Al/Si, and preferably has a particle size of less than 0À5 microns and a porosity of less than 10%.
